Established in 1991, Paneltex is a renowned market-leading specialised and refrigerated vehicle bodybuilder. Challenges

Ocado, pioneers of the online grocery market and a valued customer of Paneltex, reached out with a pressing need for a solution that enhances the safety of their vans during manoeuvring and reversing. Thus, the solution would directly contribute to the overall safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and
other vehicles in the surrounding environment, minimising the risk of accidents and collisions. A robust vehicle safety solution during reversing not only safeguards the well-being of individuals but also protects valuable assets and minimises potential damage to the vehicles involved.

Solution

After engaging in multiple discussions regarding the
requirements of Ocado, CKO were pleased to present a comprehensive solution tailored to address their specific needs. The proposed solution encompassed a cutting-edge 7” HD Mirror Monitor, seamlessly integrated with a vehicle-specific stalk, and a robust HD commercial camera equipped with advanced features (such as night vision capability and audio functionality). This meticulously crafted HD Camera System stands out as the optimal solution to enhance the safety and precision of Ocado’s drivers during manoeuvres.

The innovative aspect of our proposed system lies in the strategically positioned HD commercial camera on the top of the vehicle, oriented to capture footage of the rear of the vehicle. This footage is then seamlessly displayed on the 7” HD Mirror Monitor, providing real-time visual feedback to the driver. To further aid the driver in assessing the proximity between the vehicle and potential obstacles or Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs), an overlay is incorporated. The overlay employs a colour-coded system — green, amber, and red — to provide a quick and intuitive perspective on the distance, enabling the driver to make informed decisions during manoeuvres.
