As you know the law has changed as of 1st March 2017 with regards to the penalties issued if drivers are caught using a hand held device whilst driving.

Summary of Key Changes

In case you missed any of it, here are the key points to be aware of:-

  • Penalties for using a phone at the wheel have doubled to six points and a £200 fine.
  • Drivers who have held their license for less than 2 years caught using a phone will lose their license and will have to retake both theory and practical tests.
  • Drivers of buses or goods vehicles could get a maximum fine of £2,500.

What is allowed?

You are only allowed to use a mobile to make emergency calls to 999 or 112 when it is not safe or practical to stop.
